Air Canada is warning that travel across the country on its flights could be delayed or cancelled on reports of job action by pilots, a move that is riling passengers who woke up to the news.
The airline posted on its site that "airport disruptions'' are expected today and into the weekend. The alert comes as various media reports say a small group of pilots may stage a ''sick-in'' to express their displeasure with airline management, CP reports.
"Time for job action against the union - fly WestJet," wrote Dave Schulz in response to the news.
Meanwhile, Suzie Mitchell tweeted: "Air Canada pilots calling in sick and delaying flights.... Seriously, grow up!!"
In March, federal Labour Minister Lisa Raitt referred disputes with the pilots and Air Canada's 8,600 ground crew to the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
