TORONTO - Vita Health Products is recalling some over-the-counter pain medication because the packaging makes it look like the drug is in a child-resistant package, but it is not.
The recall relates to five lots of Compliments Extra Strength Acetaminophen Gelcaps, sold in bottles of 120 gelcaps.
Vita Health Products has confirmed the products were distributed to Sobeys and IGA retail locations, but may be sold elsewhere as well.
Health Canada is monitoring the recall.
It says because there is no child safety mechanism, there's a risk children could open the bottle and ingest the gelcaps.
A list of the lots that are subject to the recall can be found on Health Canada's website on the page dedicated to advisories, warnings and recalls for 2010.
