Top athletes in Canadian university sport nominated for BLG Awards

CALGARY - Canadian Interuniversity Sport has announced the eight nominees for the BLG awards this year.

The top male and female athletes in Canadian university sport will be announced April 30 in Calgary.

The female nominees are St. Francis Xavier rugby player Tyson Beukeboom, Guelph rugby player Jacey Murphy, McGill hockey player Ann-Sophie Bettez and University of British Columbia field hockey player Robyn Pendleton.

The men nominated are Acadia hockey player Andrew Clark, McGill hockey player Marc-Andre Dorion, McMaster football player Kyle Quinlan and Trinity Western volleyball player Ben Ball.

The nominees were chosen based on athletic accomplishments, sportsmanship and leadership. The winners receive a trophy and a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship.

BLG is the law firm Borden Ladner Gervais which sponsors the awards.
