No charges for Star reporter following Rob Ford confrontation

Toronto police say there are no grounds to charge Daniel Dale, the Toronto Star reporter who got into a confrontation with Rob Ford last week outside the mayor’s west-end home.

Ford confronted Dale last Wednesday behind his property and accused him of spying on his family.

Ford has accused the Star of harassment and refused to speak to any media scrum in which Dale is present.

Dale has said he was there to research a story and has insisted he stayed on public property throughout the incident and did not trespass onto Ford’s property or peer into his back yard.

Dale was researching a story about Ford’s application to purchase a parcel of parkland adjacent to the mayor's house.
