A photo of a bridal model drinking a bottle of beer backstage during the Taranaki Bride of the Year competition in New Zealand sparked quite a controversy.
Event organizers were outraged when Taranaki Daily News ran the photo on the first page of their newspaper the next day, claiming the "disgusting" photo portrayed a "terrible" image of the event.
Katrina Hayman, the boozing bridal model, doesn't understand what the fuss is about and told the Taranaki Daily News that the photo likely wouldn't have sparked the same outrage had she been sipping a glass of chardonnay.
"A lot of females drink beer and it's just I felt more comfortable having a beer than a wine," she said.
Needless to say, Hayman did not win this year's competition.
