Jim Pankiw was charged following an incident in July 2011.
As in several previous court dates on the matter, Pankiw did not appear, so his lawyer entered a not guilty plea to impaired driving for him.
Pankiw represented Saskatoon-Humboldt from 1997 and 2004, first for the now-defunct Reform Party, then for the Canadian Alliance, then with the Democratic Representative Caucus, and finally as an Independent.
He came under fire when he sent out sent taxpayer-funded brochures claiming aboriginals were behind higher crime rates, blackmail, and terrorism.
Pankiw also made headlines for likening an aboriginal headdress to a Ku Klux Klan hood.
Pankiw's next court date is Nov. 5 in Saskatoon provincial court.
