The cookbook author will lead cooking demonstrations and present his family’s favourite heritage recipes from his books "David Rocco's Dolce Vita" and "Made in Italy" at the Savour Stratford Perth County Culinary Festival.
Rocco also entertains food and travel aficionados through his television programs, "David Rocco's Dolce Vita" and "David Rocco’s Amalfi Getaway."
"His passion for food and fresh ingredients aligns with that of Savour Stratford," Danielle Brodhagen, culinary program development co-ordinator of the Stratford Tourism Alliance, said in a release.
"Having learned to cook from his mother, Mr. Rocco is a perfect fit to celebrate ‘our culinary roots.’ He is known for using seasonal ingredients simply to make delicious rustic dishes without using fancy equipment or techniques to inspire home cooks.”
In 2008, Rocco also partnered with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to inspire teenagers to cook as part of the province's new legislation to encourage healthy eating.
Tastings, free concerts, artisanal markets and street theatre will converge in Stratford’s heritage garden district during the Sept. 21-23 festival.
