TTC shuts section of Yonge subway this weekend

It's going to be a weekend of frustration for subway riders in Toronto.

The TTC is going to shut down a large section of the Yonge-University-Spadina subway all weekend for track construction.

The section from Bloor to Union stations will be closed from end of service on Saturday morning until Monday at 6 a.m. so the TTC can build a new double crossover section at the King station.

The TTC says the crossover, when it is finished, will allow trains to terminate at King station in the event of an emergency.

This weekend's closure is the third of three closures that TTC says it needs to finish the construction.

Over the weekend all trains on University-Spadina section will terminate at Union station.

On the Yonge street portion of the line, trains will terminate at Bloor Street.

Shuttle buses will be put into service to replace the trains.
