Canadian mountain climber Shriya Shah-Klorfine was among four climbers who died while trying to scale Mount Everest on May 19.

"German doctor Eberhard Schaaf, 62, 55-year-old Wang-yi Fa of China and 44-year-old South Korean mountaineer Song Won-bin also died on the mountain that day."

Mountaineering isn't for the faint of heart. It's an extremely dangerous sport especially when dealing with the eight-thousanders, a group of 14 independent mountains that are more than 8000 metres (26247 ft) high above sea level. Hundreds of people have lost their lives on these mountains due to falls, altitude sickness, or exhaustion.

Despite the risks and the death of Shah-Klorfine, scores of climbers continue to arrive at Mount Everest.
