Wildrose leader Danielle Smith says those interests want to add new taxes to the oil industry in order to transfer wealth out of Alberta.
Smith says Premier Alison Redford has begun talking about a Canadian energy strategy, but hasn't offered any details about what the strategy would involve.
Mulcair says his tour of the oilsands on Thursday showed him just how massive the industry is and reinforced his belief that it must be managed properly.
Redford has said her energy strategy would see the provinces and the federal government work closer together to reduce regulatory red tape and expand markets for Canada's energy.
She's said the details will come later, so as not to limit the flow of ideas and sidetrack the debate.
