Man facing air rage charges in Gander

An Ontario man is expected to appear in court in Gander today following an air rage case late Monday.

Varinder Sood, 39, was travelling from Toronto to Brussels when it's alleged he got drunk and verbally abused the flight crew when they stopped serving him alcohol.

Police say the 39-year-old was swearing and had to be held back when he tried to force his way into the cockpit to speak with the pilot.

The Jet Airways flight was diverted to Gander.

Sood — who is from Grand Valley, Ont., about 90 minutes north of Toronto — has been charged with mischief, causing a disturbance and interfering with the flight of an aircraft.
