EDMONTON - Alberta's Opposition Wildrose party is throwing its support behind an Edmonton teacher who was suspended for dishing out zeros to students for not completing their assignments.
The Edmonton Public School Board suspended Lynden Dorval last week from his job at Ross Sheppard High School because he refuses to stop handing out zeros.
Wildrose education critic Bruce McAllister says he thinks what happened to the teacher with 35 years of classroom experience is terrible.
The MLA for Chestermere-Rockview also says the provincial government should make policy changes that would prevent similar incidents.
Dorval has said he will appeal his suspension by arguing the principal who ordered the no-zero policy is acting beyond his authority.
Many parents have praised Dorval for trying to prevent teens from feeling they can get something for nothing. (CHED)
