A Surrey, B.C., man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found near a North Vancouver skating rink in February 2011.
Harvey Bracken admitted in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver Wednesday that he killed his girlfriend, Jennifer Ferguson, 40, and dumped her body wrapped in plastic sheets near the Karen Magnusson Recreation Centre.
Ferguson’s family had reported her missing Jan. 30, 2011, and her body was found four days later.
"Today's guilty plea, although satisfying, brings a sombre reminder of the cold reality of what domestic violence can do,” Corporal Adam MacIntosh of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said in a statement.
“It's simple: violence in relationships cannot be tolerated." A sentencing hearing for Bracken, 48, is scheduled to begin June 19.
