Nickelback Motown Tribute Band Needs Your Help On Kickstarter (VIDEO)

WATCH: The Nickelband Motown Tribute Band Needs Your Help

Remember the cheeky fellas behind the Motown cover of Nickelback's "This is how you remind me"?

Their cover sorta went viral (we helped) and caught the attention of LiveNation and the bookers of the Live At Squamish festival, who invited the group to join them at the music festival outside Vancouver in late August.

So what started as a one-off joke/tribute for New York City pianist Scott Bradlee became something a bit more ambitious. Bradlee and his band want to record an entire album of Motown-inspired coves of Nickelback songs. They're turning to Kickstarter to cover the licencing and recording costs of the album.

The idea made perfect sense to Bradlee, "We’re learning all these songs anyway why don’t we just release an album too," he told the Huffington Post.

The group will get to mine a pretty rich vein of music in Motown, everything from Jackie Wilson to Ike and Tina Turner. "We're taking a song, stripping it down, keeping the vocals, mostly keeping the melody, and turning it into something new," he explained.

Bradlee also assured us that Tim Kubart, the band's hyperactive tambourine player, will be joining the group.

"He’s gotten more tambourine fanmail than the rest of us," Bradlee joked.

"We’re basically flying him out there to play tambourine," he added.
