St-Dominique closed amid collapse concerns

The city of Montreal has blocked access to St-Dominique Street between Ste-Catherine Street and de Maisonneuve Boulevard because of a risk of collapse.

A city official told CBC that engineers are worried about a possible sewer collapse which could cause the roadway to sink.

No work crews were at the scene on Thursday morning. The city says crews are busy with several other infrastructure issues downtown.

On Wednesday, crews blocked a large section of Ste-Catherine Street at McGill College Avenue for the similar reasons. The intersection is expected to be closed for repair for a lengthy period of time.
