Principal on leave after students on school trip tricked into eating moose poop

WINNIPEG - A principal is on leave from a Manitoba school where students were tricked into chewing on moose droppings during a canoe trip.

A school division spokesman says Bob Kovachik will not be back at Walter Whyte School in Grand Marais (mah-RAY') in September.

Superintendent Scott Kwasnitza won't say where Kovachik will be in the fall.

Kwasnitza says a new principal has not been named.

A parent supervisor tricked a Grade 8 boy and girl into putting moose poop into their mouths by telling them it was a tasty snack made up of wild berries and grass.

Parents have identified Kovachik as one of three teachers on the trip who did nothing to stop the practical joke.
