Police executed a search warrant in the Sheppard Avenue East and McCowan Road area on Friday and found the following:
- 350,000 MDMA (ecstasy) pills, packed in vacuum-sealed bags.
- 75 kilograms of MDMA powder.
- 11 kilograms of a white crystallized powder believed to be methamphetamine.
- Production equipment and weigh scales.
Staff Insp. Randy Franks said that police got a tip that led them to the storage locker where the drugs were seized.
“This is a significant seizure and there are a lot of drugs — both methamphetamine and MDMA ecstasy pills — that are off the street and will never be on the street,” Franks told CBC News on Wednesday.
However, police have still not yet identified who is responsible for the drugs that have been seized.
It turns out that the storage locker was located in the inner portion of a facility where cameras “didn’t record the comings and goings of the people who had any storage locker rented there,” Franks said.
Police are hoping that members of the public may be able to provide them with more information.
