Motorcyclist dies in Surrey, B.C., crash

Mounties say speed appears to be a factor after a 48-year-old motorcyclist was killed in Surrey, B.C., early Sunday morning.

RCMP Sgt. Paul Reshaur said the crash happened just before 1 a.m. PT at the intersection of 88th Avenue and 150th Street.

Reshaur said the motorcyclist was travelling "at a fairly high rate of speed" when it slammed into the back of a Mitsubishi.

"As a result of the collision, the 48-year-old man was killed and the motorcycle skidded almost a full block," Reshaur said.

The woman driving the Mitsubishi was shaken but not injured.

"We’re investigating, of course, all factors but at this point we believe speed is a factor," Reshaur said.

"We don’t believe alcohol or drugs at this point are [factors], but it is still at the early stages of the investigation."

The victim’s name has not been released.
