Canada's men's 8 rowers advance to final

Canada's men's eight rowing team earned a spot in the final after finishing second in Monday's repechage round.

The defending Olympic champions came in behind Great Britain. Canada advanced to the A Final as one of the fastest four boats, while the last two will row in the B Final.

Canada was pushed into the repechage after placing last in their heat Saturday. Germany and the United States dominated their heats on Day 1 to advance directly to the final.

The final race is set for Wednesday.

Men's four move on

Canada's men's four crew of Will Dean of Kelowna, B.C., Anthony Jacob of Vancouver, Derek O’Farrell of Montreal and Michael Wilkinson of North Vancouver, B.C., advanced to the semifinal round by placing third in their heat.
