Chen Ying to defend Olympic 25m pistol title with challenge from SKorean teen Kim Jang-mi

LONDON - Chen Ying leads China's bid to win a third women's shooting gold medal at the London Olympics when the 25-meter pistol starts on Wednesday.

Chen has watched teammates Yi Siling win the 10-meter air rifle and Guo Wenjun successfully defend her 10-meter air pistol title. Now it's Chen's chance to repeat as champion.

The Asian champion and winner of the last World Cup in Munich in June could find her biggest threat coming from South Korean teenager Kim Jang-mi.

Kim is the Youth Olympic Games champion who dominated the London World Cup in April on the same Royal Artillery Barracks range. The 19-year-old Kim blew away the field by five points with a world record.

Top-ranked Lenka Maruskova of the Czech Republic has been the best in the discipline this year with medals in all three World Cups. She was the silver medallist in Athens but 20th in Beijing. She reached the final of the air pistol last Sunday and was eighth.

Olena Kostevych of Ukraine, the air pistol bronze medallist who surprisingly won the 25-meter pistol in the Milan World Cup, was also a contender along with Munkhbayar Dorjsuren of Germany, the Beijing bronze medallist.
