Brazilian committee says rower suspended from 2012 London for failing doping test before games

LONDON - The Brazilian Olympic Committee says rower Kissya Cataldo da Costa has been temporarily suspended for failing a doping test before the London Games.

The suspension forced Costa to withdraw from her single sculls event on Saturday.

The committee said it was informed by the Brazilian rowing federation that Costa failed a test conducted by the international rowing body in Brazil on July 12.

Costa was expected to compete in the C final on Saturday, with no chance for a medal.

She was participating in her first Olympic Games.

No other details on the doping test were immediately available.
