Guaranteed a medal, Japanese women footballers now hoping for business class on way home

WEMBLEY, England - Japan captain Aya Miyama says she hopes the women's football team will be flying home in business class after guaranteeing the country an Olympic medal.

The women flew economy to the London Olympics even as the men's team took business, sparking criticism around the world.

Japan beat France 2-1 Monday to reach the finals.

Asked whether the team should now move to the front end of the plane, Aya Miyama said she "hopes so."

Japan's coach Norio Sasaki said he had "heard stories" that the team might now fly business, but that "the players and myself don't really care what seat we have."

After winning the World Cup in 2011, the women were honoured by the government and upgraded to business class on their way home from Germany.
