Toronto Family Describes Terrifying Armed Robbery

While police search for two suspects in a weekend home invasion and robbery. the family who lived through the ordeal are describing what happened.

The home invasion happened Sunday afternoon at around 2:30 p.m. while the family was eating lunch. The two armed men stormed into their home through a back door.

"Suddenly two people come like this ... I yelled ... my son he yelled," said Sri Rajani Varatharayan. The one of the armed robbers said "Shh, shh, shh, if you yell I will shoot you."

The armed men demanded the family get on the floor. Varatharayan, her husband Sharma and her three-year-old son Kabishan were tied up with duct tape and electrical cords while the two thieves threatened them at gunpoint.

"He put the gun to my son's forehead and said, 'Tell me where's your money and jewellery?' I say, 'Upstairs.'

"Again he come, he says, 'You have more money, where do you have it?' Every time he ask the question, he point the gun to my son's forehead."

Frightened and shocked Kabishan stayed still and silent.

His mom says he hasn't been sleeping or eating well and has nightmares about what happened..

The family has been staying with relatives since Sunday.

Police say they are looking for two male suspects described as white, 25 to 35 years old. One is approximately 6'2" with a slim build and the other approximately 5'5" tall.
