Brace yourselves, this could get a little nutty.
Since July 1, Kraft Peanut Butter Food Trucks have been touring across Canada and and making stops in Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Alberta looking for the newest homemade peanut butter creation.
So far, Canadian entries lean toward the traditional, with household favourites like peanut butter s'mores, peanut butter and chocolate and of course, peanut butter in bananas. But this year, entries range with peanut butter and Thai dressing, peanut butter and pickles, and even PB on rice cakes.
Peanut butter has been known to have health benefits as well. Some studies have shown that eating peanuts can lower risk for coronary heart disease, according to CNN. This creamy butter can also lower the risk of type 2 diabetes. You will, however, want to watch out for the sugar and salt often contained in those jars -- lower sodium and sugar-free versions are available extensively.
If you're thinking about making these recipes as snacks for your kids, make sure you research school rules on peanuts. Many schools have banned peanuts in classrooms due to potential allergies.
