Anna Leibenko Returns To Canada: Toronto Woman Injured After A Fall In Croatia Is Back Thanks To Public Fundraiser

A 24-year-old Toronto woman is back in Canada nearly two weeks after she fell off a catamaran while vacationing in Croatia.

Anna Leibenko was with friends on Aug. 17 when she reportedly fell three metres from a catamaran, hit her head on a ledge and plunged into the ocean.

Leibenko was airlifted to a hospital in Croatia where she was treated for bleeding in the brain, along with head and face fractures. She has been on life support ever since.

After arriving back at Toronto’s Pearson Airport on Saturday morning, she was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre by ambulance.

According to a website set up to raise money to fly Leibenko home, she did not have travel insurance.

The site had raised $140,000 as of Saturday morning.
