22 Minutes Mocks Canada's Big Move On Iran (VIDEO)

WATCH: Iran's Ahmadinejad Laughs At Canada On 22 Minutes

Canada's move to sever diplomatic ties with Iran earlier this month was serious business, luckily 22 Minutes is around to lighten the mood.

The show's 20th season debuts Tuesday evening and on the first show Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (played by Shaun Majumder) rails against "the decadent Western regime that has closed its embassy."

But when Ahmadinejad finds out the nation he is talking about is Canada, the mood quickly shifts from sombre to silly.

I wonder what Mahmoud's take on Italy taking over Canada's interests in Iran would be? Maybe next week.

This Hour Has 22 Minutes returns to CBC TV with its season premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 8:30 p.m. Catch more clips of the show on Facebook and Twitter.
