Tentative deal reached in strike of support staff at Edmonton Catholic schools

EDMONTON - Negotiators have reached a tenative contract that if ratified could end a strike by support staff at Edmonton Catholic schools.

The deal addresses the issues of job protection, secretary workload and compensation for the second year.

A vote on the pact will be held Monday.

If it is ratified, striking workers could be back on the job by Tuesday.

The union represents more than 900 workers, including library staff, secretaries, teacher assistants and special-needs teacher assistants.
