Police Believe Body Pulled From Water Is Missing Ajax Teen

Durham Regional Police say they believe they have found the body of a missing Ajax teenager who was last seen alive nine days ago.

Police say they pulled a body on Sunday from Frenchman's Bay on Lake Ontario, which they believe is that of Mitchell Somerville, a 17-year-old boy from Ajax.

A Facebook group called "Find Mitch Somerville" had a comment attributed to a family member confirming that his body had been found and asking for privacy in the wake of his death.

The body has now been sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto to formally identify the victim and to determine his cause of death.

Somerville was last seen at a McDonalds restaurant in Whitby on Sept. 21.

Police say some of the teen's "personal effects" were later found in a Pickering park.
