Sherry Middaugh beats Rachel Homan to win Grand Slam curling event

CALGARY - Sherry Middaugh defeated Rachel Homan 6-3 in the final of the 2012 Autumn Gold Curling Classic on Monday.

The rink from Coldwater, Ont., went undefeated at the Grand Slam of curling event and received $14,000 in prize money.

Middaugh defeated Edmonton's Laura Crocker and Kelly Scott of Kelowna, B.C., on the road to the final. The win marks Middaugh's second World Curling Tour victory this season following a win in the Radisson Blu Oslo Cup two weeks ago in Norway.

Homan, of Ottawa, defeated the Calgary rinks of Cheryl Bernard and Shannon Kleibrink on the way to the final.

Homan received $11,000 for the second-place finish.
