Plans continue to demolish Labrador community's only school after mould found

CHARLOTTETOWN - Plans to tear down a school in Labrador are moving ahead after mould was discovered in the building.

Tenders close next week for the demolition of William Gillett Academy in Charlottetown, along Labrador's southeast coast.

Mould was found in some areas of the community's only school earlier this year, leading to its closure.

Students have been attending class at a local recreation complex.

The entire school will be torn down except for its gymnasium.

The provincial government says the school will be rebuilt.
