St-Denis Street reopened after police operation

Montreal police have re-opened an intersection in the Plateau neighbourhood after what they are calling a false-alarm over reported gunshots.

Investigators set up a large perimeter on St-Denis Street between Mont Royal and St-Joseph just before 12 p.m. after someone reported hearing what they believed to be shots fired.

Patrol officers and a tactical squad were brought in to investigate the report and just before 1 p.m. said the reports were "unfounded."

The road was re-opened a short time later.
