King St. E. storefront crash leaves driver badly hurt

The driver of a vehicle that has crashed into a store on King Street East at Berkley Street has been seriously injured, say police.

A Volkswagen collided with a cube van at around 12:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection, said Toronto police Const. Tony Vella.

The car then crashed into the furniture store on King Street East. Emergency crews attended the scene, and the driver was rushed to hospital. It is not immediately known if the driver's injuries are life-threatening.

The King 504 streetcar was diverting around the area for about an hour and a half. The road has since been reopened to traffic.
