Plane mishap and freezing rain result in some flight delays at Edmonton airport

EDMONTON - Freezing rain and a mishap with a plane have caused flight delays at Edmonton's International Airport.

Spokeswoman Traci Bednard says one runway had to be closed Tuesday after a small Cessna Citation had what is best described as a "hard landing."

She says the two people on board were not injured, but the Transportation Safety Board shut down the runway so it could conduct an investigation.

Bednard says freezing rain in the area was also complicating things at the airport.

She says travellers are encouraged to check online to see if depatures or arrivals are delayed.
