Vancouver police investigate attempted abduction

Vancouver police have issued a public warning after three men in a van attempted to abduct a teenager near Templeton High School on Monday.

Sgt. Randy Fincham says the 16-year-old girl was walking near Lakewood and East Pender streets at about 12:15 p.m. PT.

"She was approached by three suspicious men in a blue van. The men yelled at the girl, attempting to convince her to get into the van," Fincham said.

"The girl, who was not physically injured, ran to the safety of a nearby store where she called 911."

Officers responded and searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects or the van.

The van is described as an electric blue work van with white and black lettering on the side and a sliding door on the left side.

The driver is described as a South Asian man in his late 20s to early 30s with a small or medium build, stubble on his face and wearing all black clothing.

There is no description of the other two men, other than they were also wearing black clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Vancouver police.
