Children's hospital in Halifax offering only emergency care after power loss

HALIFAX - A children's hospital in Halifax cancelled all elective surgeries and non-urgent appointments today after it experienced problems with its power supply.

The IWK Health Centre says in a statement that regular power was restored at 1 p.m. but its supply of power wasn't stable.

It had been operating on limited power since 11:30 a.m.

The hospital says patients and families should call the number provided to them on their appointment letters if they need more information about elective surgeries or non-urgent appointments.
