Police crack down on risky road behaviour

Police are monitoring 50 Montreal intersections today as part of an annual operation that aims to reduce accidents in the city.

In 2011, 75 per cent of deadly collisions in Montreal occurred at intersections.

On Tuesday night, two seniors were hit by a car after dark in Lachine. One is in serious condition in the hospital.

Today's police operation will crack down on drivers, cyclists and pedestrians who don't obey the rules of the road.

Police are hoping the operation will increase awareness around road safety in the city.
