Whitecaps cut ties with 'keeper Sylvestre, midfielder Ulisses and striker Barbara

VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Whitecaps announced Thursday they will not exercise options on goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre, midfielder Tiago Ulisses and striker Etienne Barbara.

Of the three players, only Barbara saw time with the MLS club. The 30-year-old Malta native made two substitute appearances during league play and two appearances in this year’s Amway Canadian Championship.

Barbara started six matches for the Whitecaps' Reserve League side, where Sylvestre made four appearances.

Ulisses signed with Vancouver in August and started two matches for the Whitecaps' reserves club.
