Jaws of Life used to free Calgary police officer after collision at intersection

CALGARY - The Jaws of Life had to be used to free a Calgary police officer who was trapped in a vehicle after a crash.

The officer was taken to hospital Friday night but is believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.

The female driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Police say the officer was responding to a priority call when the two vehicles collided at an intersection.

Police say it appears the officer did have his lights and siren on at the time.

Two registered nurses and an off-duty police officer were near the scene of the collision and rendered aid to the drivers.
