REGINA - The Saskatchewan government is being criticized for trading land near a provincial park for another parcel of land described as a swamp.
Jerome Plaskan is upset that his family's old homestead adjacent to Greenwater Lake Provincial Park has been traded to an Alberta man.
Plaskan says his parents sold the homestead to the government in the late 1960s and was told it couldn't buy it back.
Environment Minister Ken Cheveldayoff says the land belonged to the Fish and Wildlife Development Fund, which believes the trade is good for hunters.
Cheveldayoff also says the trade must go ahead because a legal commitment has been made to the Alberta man.
The minister says he does not know what the Albertan plans to do with the land.
