Mr. Dressup Google Doodle: Site Celebrates Ernie Coombs, Icon Of Canadian TV

Happy birthday, Mr. Dressup! Today, Google celebrates beloved TV icon Ernie Coombs' would-be birthday with a doodle.

Coombs starred in the Canadian children's TV show 'Mr. Dressup' on CBC, which ran from 1967 to 1996.

In the doodle, you can see Mr. Dressup with his pals Casey and Finnegan popping out of the Tickle Trunk.

Coombs died in Toronto in 2001 at age 73 after experiencing a stroke, but clearly his memory lives on. Many Canadians took to Twitter to express their gratitude at Google's choice.

Other Google Doodles with Canadian connections have featured the Canadarm and Hartland, New Brunswick’s covered bridge.
