Second arrest made in New Year's Day homicide

Toronto police have made a second arrest in a homicide that claimed a man's life on New Year's Day.

The body of 20-year-old Jamahl Franklin was found on the sidewalk outside a house on Hupfield Trail in the early hours of Jan. 1, 2012.

The victim had been shot.

Franklin had been attending a party inside the residence prior to his death.

A few days later, police arrested Baptists Bernier, 22, who was charged with second-degree murder.

On Wednesday, police announced that a second man has been charged in Franklin's death.

Mauro Granados-Arana, 23, also faces a charge of second-degree murder.

The accused was in custody on an unrelated matter. He was both arrested and charged on Wednesday.

Police say they are still looking to speak with witnesses who attended the party at the time of Franklin's death.
