Pedestrian struck in Surrey, B.C.

Mounties in Surrey, B.C., are investigating a hit and run accident Friday evening.

Police say a man believed to be in his 70s was hit at about 7 p.m. PT in the area of 132nd Street and Huntley Avenue.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Blair McColl says police are looking for the suspect’s vehicle.

"We believe it to be a small car," he said. "There aren’t a lot of details at this point. We’re going through evidence left at the scene to see if we can determine more in terms of a make and a model perhaps, and a colour."

McColl says the victim is expected to recover.

"The prognosis that I was given is that he is expected to make a full recovery," he said.

"From the information I have, there was no broken bones, nothing real serious. [He is] expected to totally recover."
