The perfect Christmas weather came early to Edmonton and surrounding areas. Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings and say 10 to 15 centimeters of snowfall is expected by tonight.
The Environment Canada added:
An upper disturbance moving slowly across Central Alberta is generating a heavy band of snow. The band extends from Whitecourt to Leduc and is moving slowly southeastward. 10 to 15 cm of snow is expected in areas affected by this band of snowfall. Conditions will improve this evening as the band weakens and moves further to the southeast.

The ares affected by the snowfall warning include:
- Edmonton, St. Albert , Sherwood Park
- Spruce Grove, Morinville, Mayerthorpe, Evansburg
- Leduc, Camrose, Wetaskiwin, Tofield
- Medicine Hat, Bow Island, Suffield
- Cypress Hills Provincial Park, Foremost
Wind warnings were also issued for the following areas, with upto 90 kilmoteres per hour wind possible this afternoon.
St. Albert Transit also terminated all commuter routes returning from Edmonton at Village Transit Station in St. Albert due to the snow conditions.
