Mega-retailer H&M made its name on "throwaway fashion" — affordable knock-offs of big designers that you wear for a season. But now it looks like they've caught the sustainability bug with a new recycling initiative to make up for fast-fashion sins of the past.
They're calling it the launch of a "global garment collecting initiative" — which is basically an old-fashioned clothes drive. Starting in February 2013, customers will be able to drop off bags of used clothing at any H&M location, worldwide. The company is committed to recycling, re-using or donating all your old stuff, alongside I:Collect, who do awesome things with other people's discarded wares.
What's more, for each bag of clothing you pass off to the store, you will receive a $5 gift card.
