CBC Food Bank Day raises $567,085 in B.C.

CBC's 26th Annual Open House and Food Bank Day raised more than half a million dollars to feed families across B.C., organizer Anne Penman has confirmed.

The final tally was calculated on Monday morning after online donations continued to pour in over the weekend.

"The generosity of the CBC audience has resulted in a record-setting year for our annual CBC Food Bank Day. A total of $567,085 was raised for food banks throughout B.C.," said Penman.

"Thanks to each and every one of you who took the time to donate online or on the pledge phones," she said.

In addition, more than 5,000 people were able to tour the CBC studios in Vancouver, with hundreds more touring CBC studios in Victoria, Kamloops, Kelowna and Prince George.
