Boy threatened while shopping at Eaton Centre, police say

Toronto police say they have learned of two separate incidents in the past month, in which a male suspect threatened young men shopping at the Eaton Centre.

Police say that a male suspect approached an 11-year-old boy on Wednesday, and told him that he had a large knife, then physically led him around the mall.

The boy handed over cash and was able to escape.

The suspect is described as a black male with his hair in short twists, believed to be 19 years old, who weighs approximately 160 pounds and is between five-foot-nine to six feet tall.

Police have released images of the male suspect.

A separate incident occurred weeks before on Nov. 19, in which two 14-year-old boys were approached by a suspect of similar description.

In the prior case, which was not immediately reported to police, the boys were also threatened and physically led around the mall. They both escaped.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact police.
