Father dies in crash after trying to correct teen's driving

A 40-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon after a vehicle driven by his 16-year-old son struck a culvert in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle.

At around 4:30 p.m., the father and son were traveling on Saint-Andre Road when the older man, thinking the car was veering too much to the right, tried to help the teen steer the vehicle, Quebec provincial police said.

The vehicle swerved to the left and then the right, when it struck the culvert in the ditch.

The man was pronounced dead in hospital.

His son sustained minor injuries.
