Emily Schuman of the popular lifestyle blog, Cupcakes and Cashmere, shares her holiday plans with thekit.ca.
What are you planning on giving this year?
I always love to give things that people wouldn’t necessarily buy for themselves, whether it’s a luxurious bubble bath, a candle, or some cashmere. Like a cashmere throw I think is great. It’s such a versatile piece that you can use on your couch, your bed, you can wrap it around yourself when you travel.

I’m trying to think about what I’m getting my guy. I can’t really disclose too much, but I’ll probably get him something to add to his always growing bar collection. We have quite the bar collection at home.
And also some great serving pieces for my parents.
You have two cats. Do you spoil them over the holidays too?
Oh yeah, it’s embarrassing how much I get those cats. There’s actually this cat scratch pad that looks like a DJ turntable. It’s kind of ridiculous but they’ll be getting that.
What about yourself, what are you wishing for?
I feel like I have everything. When it comes to the holidays I love spending time with my family. My parents are in San Francisco, which is about a 6-hour drive, so I love the fact that we can just hang out with them, have no plans, eat good food, and all hang out together. I mean I really do have everything I’d ever want so it’s really just about quality time with them.
Do you guys do a big family gathering?
We do. We have a great Christmas Eve dinner with friends up the street, and a big crab thing. The morning of, my parents make buckwheat blini with caviar and champagne.
Wow, you guys go all out.
It’s indulgent but also really casual. We’re in our pyjamas for days. It’s a good combination.
