Pedestrian killed in Burnaby, B.C.

A pedestrian is dead after being hit in Burnaby, B.C., Friday evening.

Police say the man, whose name has not been released, was hit on North Road near Lougheed Highway at about 5 p.m. PT.

The pedestrian was rushed to Royal Columbian Hospital where he later died.

Police say he was crossing between intersections and wasn’t in a marked crosswalk.

The driver is cooperating with police.

The incident was one of three pedestrian accidents in just over an hour in Burnaby Friday night.

"Pedestrians should be using marked crosswalks and, especially this time of year — dark, rainy times, when visibility is poor — people should be wearing bright clothing so they’re easily seen by motorists," said RCMP Const. Brad Potter.
