As U.S President Barack Obama's inaugural celebrations continued into Monday, photos captured the grandeur of the occasion.
Obama took the oath of office in a small ceremony with family members and a few reporters Sunday, as the U.S. Constitution states a president's terms begins on Jan. 20. The events continued Monday, with a public ceremony, luncheon, parade and two official balls.
Although this year's celebrations were expected to be less exciting than those of 2009, an estimated 800,000 people were to attend, according to Reuters. Nearly two million attended in 2009.
